Weather and Things I’ve Learned This Past Year

Today’s subject:

Things you’ve learned this year.

I’m thankful I learned that….

  1. I need to focus on doing one thing at a time. Not try to do five at once. Somehow, it works better if I do one at a time.
  2. I need to come up with a rough plan for what I’m going to do—whether it be to plan my day or to plan a new novel. I need a guide to go by. Otherwise, I’m hopelessly lost.
  3. Sometimes, it takes sitting down and actually writing to get something written. I know that sounds crazy, but really—that’s something I’ve learned this year.
  4. It’s fun to try new things sometimes—even when they don’t always work out.
  5. If you want to make good memories, you need to take time to make them. For example, I want to remember in the future having fun times with my brothers—even if it only lasted for five minutes. But I’ve got to take time to be with them to make those memories.
  6. I’m naturally very scheduled. And I’m definitely a first born personality. (Thanks to Dr. Kevin Leman for that one!)
  7. I. love. writing. Really, I do. I’m learning that more and more each day.

We had a lovely day at church today. When we left our place this morning it was cloudy, but then it got brilliantly sunny and was that way until we got down on the coast again. As we were coming around the last bend, we saw a huge bank of fog. Then we drove in that until we got to the peninsula, and once up on the peninsula it was beautifully sunny again! Looking back down the coast we could see the fog clinging to the land. Then, we went down the other side of the peninsula and were in the fog again!

It was foggy when we got to church. Around late morning or lunch time the fog cleared and went north, then when we were leaving this afternoon it began drifting south again. Over all it’s been pretty warm today with a nor’wester blowing. I hope it brings some rain! Usually nor’westers don’t, but sometimes they do. After nor’westers we usually get southerlies, so I hope that that comes through soon. My brothers get cabin fever when the southerlies strike, but it’s so dry here. The hills are already turning brown and they usually don’t until the middle of December or so.

Anyway, that’s my take on the weather at the moment. :)

We were able to see a lady from our church who’s just had a long-overdue hip replacement. She’s still in some pain, but healing quickly. She’s also walking a lot better than she was before. Praise the Lord!

Interesting reads lately:

Hope you’ve had (or are having) a wonderful Sunday!
