My Favorite Place To Read

My favorite reading place

I love reading. Anyone could tell you that. Lately, I've been reading the Elsie Dinsmore series. There are 28 books in the series, and I'm on the 4th. It's gonna take a while for me to get through! Recently, I've been reading in bed (it's the softest place on earth, you know!), but occasionally I curl up on the couch. 

I can remember when I was younger (like maybe six years old?), I would take Return to Gone-Away to bed with me, and read and read and read. Back then, I hadn't read the first book (Gone-Away Lake), and the words didn't make much sense. Now, though, I can appreciate the book a lot better. It's amazing that a few years can make a difference in our understanding what we read.

As I got older, reading got easier as well as understanding. I not only had more books to read, I was able to read in other ways, too. I read from our Amazon Kindle. And then we also have computers to read from. When I was younger (like eleven or so), we didn't have those luxuries. Now, if I don't understand a word (which is VERY rare, I can assure you!), I can easily search the dictionary.

I can read about anywhere. In the van, out on the lawn under a tree... Reading has to be one of my favorite ways of passing the time, (yes, I know! Time passes fast anyway!) and is profitable, too. I love reading God's Word, because then I feel closer to Him. As the Bible says, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." (James 4:8a) It is His personal letter to me, and through it I get a lot of encouragement to stay a "Joyful Maiden". I praise the LORD daily for giving me the ability to read!
