Friday, 2 March 2012

School went well today. I got quite a bit done, but didn't get much done after my freind came while we were eating lunch.

What I did today:
  1. Finished “Purim”, an overview of the Jewish holiday
  2. Read Bible
  3. Read Florence Nightingale, by Margaret Leighton
  4. I identified crystalline structures of gems
  5. Wrote half of “Diamond” (didn't have time after my friend came)
  6. Failed Maths
  7. Got Diagramming right
I got as much school as I could done this morning, and was pleasantly surprised when my friend came while we were eating lunch. After lunch, we played games for awhile – that is, until Seth shouted, “THEY'RE BURNING THE PADDOCK!” Games were forgotten, and we all hurried out to watch. Sure enough, the far paddock was on fire, but as we watched the fire (and the noise) diminished rapidly. Then our landlord (who was burning the paddocks (they are his)) came, and started the second paddock on fire. We watched it burn for awhile, then when it died down he started the third.

It was quite interesting to watch. Our landlord had a small harrow behind him (he was pulling it with a tractor), which caught the straw, then he set it on fire and pulled the burning straw behind him around the edges of the field. This caught the stalks on fire, and they burned to the centre where they all died out. Another new experience! It was quite fun to watch.

Well, it's bed time again! Has been another fun, busy day.
