Tuesday, 14th February

It had rained a little last night, so the grass was a little wet. After milking (which took about 20 minutes), I came inside and did my morning Bible study. After breakfast, I hit into the day. I spent all morning working on writing about amber (the fossilized tree resin kind) for the gems and minerals booklet. It probably wouldn't have taken so long if I would have had more detailed instructions. I'm used to that kind, and so when they say, “Write about how they are made; uses for various gems, mining methods, etc.,” I am kind of lost. I think I've figured out how to do it, though, so tomorrow should go easier.

So, what I did for school today:

  1. Bible reading
  2. Writing for Gems/Minerals booklet
  3. Worked on memorizing Proverbs 31:16, recited Proverbs 31:10-15
  4. Made hard goats' cheese (life skills)
  5. Made cucumber salad (life skills, recipe below)

It wasn't much school, but enough. I hope tomorrow will go better.

This evening, some friends came over for Bible study. We studied Acts 26. Quite an interesting chapter! I think my favourite part was when Felix said, “YOU'RE MAD! YOU'VE HAD TOO MUCH BOOK LEARNING!” (literally!)

Well, I should go. It's late (as it seems to always be...)

RECIPE:
2 medium cukes (1 ¼ lb)
2 t. salt
3 T. vinegar
3 T. water
½ t. sugar
¼ t. paprika
¼ t. pepper
½ clove minced garlic

DIRECTIONS:
Wash and peel cukes, slice thinly. Mix lightly with salt, set aside 1 hour. In the mean while, mix the vinegar, water, sugar, paprika, pepper, and garlic and set aside. Drain cucumber slices, put into bowl. Pour vinegar mixture over. Mix and enjoy! Yum...
