What I did for school today:
- Wrote a couple pages about Purim (will try to have a traditional celebration later this year)
- Read more of Beautiful Girlhood
- Read more of Antiquities of the Jews
- Figured out what Gems/Minerals I am going to use in a Gems/Minerals booklet I will be making over this week and next.
- AMBER (Succinite: fossilized tree resin)
- AMETHYST (variety of Quartz- Silicon Oxide)
- AQUAMARINE (variety of Beryl, Berylium Aluminum Silicate)
- BOLEITE (Hydrated Lead Copper Silver Chloride Hydroxide)
- BORAX (Hydrated Sodium Borate)
- CHALCOCITE (Copper Sulfide)
- COBALT (Co)
- DIAMOND (Carbon)
- FRANKLINITE (Zinc Manganese Iron Oxide)
- GOLD (Au)
- GYPSUM (Hydrated Calcium Sulfate)
- HYDROXYLBASTNASITE (Cerium Lanthanum Neodymium Carbonate Hydroxide Fluoride)
- JADE (gem variety of both Jadeite and Nephrite (variety of Actinolite))
- YUKSPORITE (Hydrated Potassium Barium Sodium Calcium Titanium Silicate Fluoride Hydroxide)
- TOPAZ (Aluminum Silicate Fluoride Hydroxide)
(Okay, yes, I'll admit that I choose Hydroxylbastnasite purely for the reason that it's a long word. :) It will be interesting learning about, though.)
At the tea table tonight, we started talking about some friends of ours who took a trip through the holy lands recently. There was a picture of the son in front of the pyramids in Egypt. Simon thought about that for a little while, and said that when he goes to Egypt, he won't have his picture taken in front of the pyramid, he'll climb the pyramid, and have his picture taken from up on top! He'll also take some sudsy water and a tarp long enough to reach the bottom up with him. He'll hook the tarp around the top of the pyramid, and pour the sudsy water down it so that he can slide better. Then he'll slide down to the bottom!
While Simon was talking, Mom turned to Dad and said, “Mental note: don't take Simon on a trip to the pyramids.” Later, she said, “Another mental note: don't take any of the other boys, either, because they are listening to Simon.” My family is amazing!

This afternoon, I picked 6 2L buckets of green and purple and dragon beans. It was fun having a little help from Elijah, too. After I got that done, I washed down all the plastic/glass parts of the front of the van, and I'll work on the back tomorrow. The boys cleaned everything out and vacuumed, so it makes the job A LOT easier. I think we'll list it on Trade Me tomorrow. Then, when it sells (if it sells) we can buy a new van! I'm looking forward to that. At the tea table tonight, we started talking about some friends of ours who took a trip through the holy lands recently. Well, I should go to bed. It's 10:09 PM. Tomorrow is another day.
