Editing, day 9

Well, that was quite a silence, wasn’t it? :) Monday I had a headache most of the day, and consequently when I sat down to edit I didn’t get much of anything done—maybe a few sentences. Tuesday we were gone all day. So I didn’t have time then. And today? Today was…full.

This morning, I worked on catch-up school (Tuesday’s and today’s), then this afternoon I spent a good chunk of my time helping to get the 50 kg (110 lb) of tomatoes Mom bought Tuesday worked up. So, consequently, I had only a little bit of time around 6:45 or so to actually sit down to do some work! I think I was able to get around 30 minutes in all together. That was just enough time to break a bigger scene into two slightly smaller sections, and add some major changes (like, fixing up places where I forgot there was a guard on duty…woops). Currently, I’ve edited around 12,300 words.

And here’s a good quote to keep going:

"Never, EVER give up. Not ever. Not EVER. Ever EVER!"
— Mary Janice Davidson

Lord willing, we’ll be off on a short holiday near Nelson over Easter weekend, so that should be fun. But I probably won’t have time to edit then! Hopefully, I’ll be able to work ahead some…we’ll see.

The last few days have been wet. Monday morning, when Mom was hanging laundry, Nate went outside and he mentioned the lack of water to play in. Mid-morning, rain set in and he soon had a puddle to play in. He was delighted!

A boy, with a stick, water, and toys is a very happy boy.

We now have four chicks—Bo-Peep, Fluffy, Mane, and I can’t remember the name of the other one. Needless to say, they are a big distraction sometimes! :) So cute.

Dad helped Joe cut up his giant pumpkin tonight—but first, we got a picture! This is an Atlantic Giant, and it weighed around 13 kg (29 lb). It wasn’t quite ripe, but the vine had died, so Mom picked it. We had some for tea—yum!

So that’s what’s been happening recently. :) How’s life been treating you?

  1. Keep going Esther! Never give up! And I can't WAIT to read your book. I need the same encouragement for the book I'm working on.

    1. Is that the story set around Ruth's time? How is it going? Too bad you don't have a blog--then you could post updates on it! :) Don't give up either!

  3. There never seems to be time for editing. It always gets put on last of things to get done. I'd like to pretend this is because it isn't important, but sadly, I know that isn't true.
Hopefully you can get ahead on it a bit, and have lots of fun on your vacation.

    The chicks are so cute!
