I’ll make this brief tonight, because I do want to get to bed sometime. :)
Editing went well today. With the Lord’s help, I was able to get another four scenes done in the hour and ten minutes that I had of battery. And I reached the end of chapter three (out of nineteen), so that does feel like a minor accomplishment! I’m almost 1/6 of the way. So far, I’ve read through and corrected 6,714 words. That’s an average of 2,238 words per day—almost the speed I was writing at last November!
I am really enjoying having Scrivener to use for editing. It’s saved lots of time and energy for me, while having everything organized neatly (something that I REALLY appreciate!). God is good.
This afternoon, I went outside to help move some of the cows to new grazing. Seth and Elijah were finishing getting the fence properly ready as I headed out.
Dad’s almost home! Getting the cows moved just down the road was no big deal.
Those poor things—all they had at first was grass that had already been picked through by the milk cows. They weren’t that happy. As soon as they eat it all down, though, they’ll get fresh food!
This evening, baby brother dropped a pen over the fence and couldn’t quite reach it. He wasn’t happy that he couldn’t reach it from the top of the gate!
After successfully getting his pen back, he had a staring contest with Brownie (which he won by pointing the pen at the calf and saying “Boom, boom!”).
Mr. Brownie. He’s the latest edition in our cattle department.
Pen-wielding Nathan, talking to James who is filling the waterer for his chickens. Watch out, James—that boy can be dangerous!
So that was our day. :) One more day of the power being off, and then that will be over for a while. I have found that since the power is off I can get more reading done. Today instead of reading I helped Elijah start a book called Jump In! that was written to teach young writers how to write. And I worked on writing up (long hand!) a blog post for JOJ. I’ve found (well, established more firmly) my conviction that I can write MUCH faster on the computer than long hand. But practicing my long hand skills once in a while is nice, too.
Tomorrow’s looking busy—I have some babysitting in the evening for some neighbours down the road. I’m also hoping to get ahead on school a bit tomorrow, too. We’ll see how it all goes! :)
Esther
