Even though it’s Sunday, I was able to spend just over an hour editing tonight. On the surface, it doesn’t look like I made much progress (only about two scenes worked on), but I feel like I’ve done a lot. I was able to combine the first two scenes of chapter six, completely edit that and cut out about enough material for a scene from that, and also alter several preceding scenes to make everything flow. By the time I was done, I was done. Thankfully, it was tea time anyway, so I had a good long break.
Now, I’d like to get back at it but I think an early bedtime will win out in the end. I might be helping some friends in picking grapes tomorrow, so it would be good if I wasn’t tired during that!
The boys found another chick that just hatched today. It’s still very wobbly on it’s legs yet, and spends most of its time sleeping so she must have just hatched out. Mr. Bo-Peep is very happy to have a companion now! He isn’t quite so loud anymore! She has a slightly lower-pitched voice than he does. He’s loud and persistent, and she seems to be quieter and more peaceful. It will be interesting to see how the two get along in the next few days, and also see if there are any more chicks that hatch!
This isn’t the best picture ever of her. But she is cute—and tiny! Maybe not quite as cute as Bo-Peep was, but still pretty cute in her own way. Her name is Fluffy (named by Simon).

P.S. I just broke above the 11,600-word line! Yay!
Congrats on your editing!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell if the chicks are girls or boys?
Thank you! :)
DeleteNo--I'm just ascribing male/female pronouns to them. It's a lot easier than saying "it" all the time. ;) We'll know in a few months what they really are.
