Christmas, a New Year, Mozzarella Cheese (+more)

Although I haven't posted in AGES (well, it seems like that to me! Facebook smileys) I've still been here--just behind the scenes. I have something really exciting that will (Lord willing) be upcoming in a couple of months, but I can't tell y'all about it just quite yet. There are several things that need to be worked out first, sadly. But I'll tell you just as soon as possible! I promise. Facebook smileys

and Mozzarella Cheese...

Yup, I've been making that stuff. YUM. And it's SO easy! (Especially when you use goat's milk, but it works well with cow's milk, too.) Here's a pdf I created from the three pictures Lauren sent me (I tried to re-create it as close to the original as possible--please tell me if you can't see it! Facebook smileys):

Sunburn...

How many times have you been sunburned between Christmas and New Year's? I haven't been...very many times. But this year, I was. I worked for our landlord with my brothers, and one day I spent about six hours working in the beautiful sunshine! It was a wonderfully warm summer day, but... ouch. My neck got it the worse, and my arms were a pretty red colour. My face reminded me of a lobster. Facebook smileys

This morning when I woke up (two days after the sunburn), my arms had finally returned to their usual temperature. And they weren't near as red. My neck is still sore, but not as bad. Thank you, Lord, for healing! Facebook smileys

Two Last Things...

These are things I want to remember a minute, a day, a year, and a decade from now.

This picture...

...and this quote.
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
― Neil Gaiman

I hope you haven't minded my long-winded and many-pictured post! Facebook smileys

P.S. A big storm is in progress here tonight--all we are having is rain, but look at these news articles!:

Phew! I'm sure glad I live a little ways away from those places! And the rain is wonderful...we needed it!

I am honored to be here today to say that my friend Esther, (points to you) has a very exciting secret that neither she or I will give away, although she's probably bursting at the seams to tell you. Thank you for the honor of speaking with you today, and I wish all of you a very happy New Year!"

  12. Ouch. :)

Cheese? Which kind? Currently, between Mum and I, we make 6 different kinds of cheese: Cow's Hard Cheese (Farmer's Cheese, what we usually take to writing group), Goat's Hard Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Velveeta (American cheese), Goat's Feta, and Mozzarella cheese (another kind of American cheese). Take your pick--most of them are fairly easy to make. My favorite at the moment is Mozzarella cheese because 1) it melts, and 2) it doesn't take much time to make. Velveeta cheese also melts well. The only difference is in taste--Velveeta is very flavorful, whereas Mozzarella has not much if any flavor. It's good for pizzas and other things that don't need flavor, though.
