In this book, David Murdoch tells about how Howard Carter found Tutankhamun's tomb, and all the different things in it. There were several things I hadn't ever heard about before that I found out in this book. Had you ever heard that there were robbers in Tutankhamun's tomb several times?
Go here, and you can read a really interesting story about it. They (the robbers) mostly looted small chests, but they got into “The Annexe”, and turned that room into complete disaster! One thief left his footprints on a white box, and they were still there when Carter and his crew found the tomb. The Annexe was in a terrible wreck and Carter said that “He [the robber] had done his work just about as thoroughly as an earthquake”! Carter wasn't able to even stand in the Annexe at first, he had to be held up by a rope swing leaning into the room to begin clearing it! Well, I'd better not tell you any more about the book. You'll have to read it yourself.
(I decided not to put it in, because it isn't really polite. you're supposed to forget about the picture of the book. yeah, I really mean that.)
In the above picture, you can see two robber's footprints (he must have had REALLY DIRTY feet! :D) in the top sort-of center of the picture, on what looks like the white wooden slats of wood. Don't see them? Hmm...how do I explain...? It's above the pot in the very center...like, just above it. You saw them? Good. I'm glad. Neat, huh?
Hi Esther! :)
ReplyDeleteThat book looks interesting!
Just wanted to let you know about a book that is on that subject of Eygptian Pharaohs - written from a Christian perspective - it's very interesting! "Unwrapping the Pharaohs" by David Down. We highly recommend it!
