(well, you already know about it, but anyway...)
I know...writing a novel...in one month...sounds BIG. Like, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY big. But...well, I've done it. And I don't plan on going back on my word. I'm aiming for about 1,500 wpd (words-per-day), but (SHHH!!! don't tell my Mum!!! ;) ) I'm gonna try for 2,000. We'll see. That sounds like A LOT!!! Mum says I should aim for 30,000 words all together.
You're wondering what I'm writing about? My story about the girl in Israel. Yeah...I've been working on that all along, but I KNOW it can be a lot better than it is (at the moment I have 10 pages worth, but I'll re-write it all).
I'm super excited about this adventure. I never quite dreamed that I would be writing a novel at my age (6 + 9 ÷ 5.1 x 5 - 1 and round to the higher number. haha, yes, you can use a calculator!!! :D). But I did used to dream of writing a book one day. Mum says that I'm completing one of her childhood dreams--she always wanted to write a novel! She said that the problem was that she only ever got about half a page written. I hope I can do better than that! : /
I think I will. But I really need your prayers. I'm stepping on new ground here. Thank you for praying, and I hope you understand if I don't post very much (though I can't say as I post all that much anyways. : / ) in the next month! And hey, maybe you'll join me? I love having friends writing with me, even if we're writing different things!
Oh--and yes, I think I have a name for the story: A Rose in Spite of Thorns. If you really, absolutely can't wait for the novel writing to finish being written, you can have a sneak peak below. :D If you're like me, you'll read it. And, if you do--you're reading it on one condition. That you send back all the problems that you find to me. (and trust me; they're there! :D It's a really, really rough draft!)
Okay, here you go:

P.S. I'd love to know what you think of my adventure in doing this crazy thing called writing a novel in thirty days! Have any thoughts on the subject? Any tips? Comment below; and thanks a lot!
Sounds like a lot of fun Esther! My only advice would be write during your best time of day--if you're a morning person write in the morning. Then proof read later when you've let it "sit" for a while. In my experience when I try to write and proof at the same time my thoughts get all tangled up. :)
ReplyDeleteEsther the link to your rough draft doesn't work
ReplyDeleteDid you know.... That people: Are typically cleverer in the mornings, than at night? It is true!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm a bit like your mum.... I can't write more than 1 page at a time sort of thing...
But hey, I write 30-40 PAGE magazine every 2 months (which equals= a lot of the time)!
:-)

@Tiffany--can you see the rough draft now? I ended up uploading it to Google Docs.
ReplyDelete@Rebecca--Thanks! I'll have to try that. I usually work best in the morning, so I'll probably be writing then. I have my math for the year out of the way, and that is usually done in the mornings. So I'll have my mornings mostly free.
@Sayna--Maybe I should take my IQ test in the morning! :D Just kidding. I don't know where I would get that. But good thought, though.

Heehee sorry I'm far to sleepy early morning, the best stories I ever wrote were late evening! :\ :D (I'm saying 10 pm-ish :D)
ReplyDeleteOften, my writings for JOJ are written in the evenings, but I am usually fighting sleep then! :D I can really write about any time of the day; I just have to get myself to do it. ;)
ReplyDelete~Esther
I am a night writer. I wrote 1,166 words for Lussie's story last night ended at 11, not later :D
ReplyDeletethough I could have written more this morning, I need to do some more planning
ReplyDeleteDid you write those on the computer, or by hand? (I'm just curious)
ReplyDeletePlanning as in...? Where you're story is going to go?
~Esther
I am doing NaNoWriMo too!
ReplyDeleteAre you? Could I have your user profile link, please? I'd like to see it!
ReplyDelete~Esther
*Solemn face*
ReplyDeleteEsther, I have entered NaNoWriMo.....!
I'm shocked with myself.
But I've already got a plot and have written a chapter!
I now write with you. :D
Sincerely
Sayna
what fun! I'd love to write with you but am already writing a novel for a school project. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteHow fun, Abigail! What is yours about? How many words are you aiming for?
ReplyDelete~Esther
Go Sayna! Yeah I know you kind of click the button then totally freak out about the fact you just did that :D
ReplyDeleteEsther it's about Ruth (in the Bible) and her friend Sharon who grew up with her in Moab and came to Isreal after she did. I actully haven't started writing yet (Lord willing start tomarrow) but have develpoed my main character, plot, organized my story, titles, tense etc. Five whole chapters of my writing book and chapter six you start to write. It's supposed to take a whole semester so not a month project! But that sounds fun. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteOh, Abigail! That sounds like LOTS of fun! :D You'll have to email me the book once you get it written! I'll be looking forward to that.
ReplyDelete~Esther
yes I want to e-mail it to you. But it will be awhile yet!
ReplyDeleteYes, it will be a while until it's finished--I'm finding that out too! But persevere, you will get it done, (I've found that the further I've gone the more fun it is!) and I'll be more than happy to help you proofread/edit it. :D
ReplyDelete~Esther
yes it gets funner and funner. (um, some bad grammer there.:) I'm excited--but it's HARD work too and takes alot of time! I really need patience for it. Hey I'd be more then happy to have you edit it! I need lots of feedback. i want to e-mail some of it to you after I GET MORE DONE.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter if you use bad grammar--I do too, sometimes! :D
ReplyDeleteI had a thought--even if you aren't participating in NaNoWriMo, you can still read their (very encouraging!) posts. That might help you--especially when writers block threatens to overwhelm.
Yes, you really don't imagine how much work goes into a novel until you're writing it yourself! I'm finding that out. But it's still very fun.
