I’m hoping that in these next few weeks I’ll be able to update you on what’s been going on. I apologise for not posting earlier, but I’ve been very…occupied with many other things.
These pictures were taken in mid-late December.
Mum got some mint planted close to the back steps. They started multiplying very fast!
The view looking north from the house—just beautiful!
One day, while we waited for Mum to arrive with lunch, I climbed the hill with several of my brothers. The view was breath-taking.
Here comes Mum! Looking down from the hill is quite the experience.
See what I mean? It’s just…lovely, wherever you turn!
Back down at the house, my fourth brother investigates what Dad has accomplished.
On another day, the boys were privileged to watch Craig (our soon-to-be landlord) push the trees out of the place where Mum has decided to put our main garden.
After getting most of the trees pushed out, he carried piles of brush to the pile of already-downed trees in one of the paddocks.
And Mum worked on digging up a space to plant tomatoes in.
Looking at the cleared area as we walked out.
I haven’t taken very many pictures over there since then, but I should get a few soon. Looking at these I see a very dramatic improvement in what we’ve done over there! And I want to get a few pictures before we move in.
The plumber’s been out, and all the taps and drains in the house are working. There are several things water-related that still need some help, so Lord willing we’ll be able to get him back sometime to fix those places.
One corner of the house is rotten, and from what we hear Craig and his wife Debbie are planning to get a carpenter out to fix that.
The three chimneys have been cleaned—Debbie got a man out to do that. He had quite the trial getting the brush down the kitchen chimney—there was a bee’s nest in it! From Dad’s description of it he apparently tried forcing the brush through but couldn’t. After repeated tries Dad suggested they drop a heavy crowbar down. The boys had used the same crowbar to clear a nest from one of the living room chimneys….
Well, that got a bit longer than I expected. I’ll have to break it up into two posts. So stay tuned—I’ll be back soon with part two (don’t worry, it’s already written and scheduled).
Keep looking to Jesus!
Esther
Wow! It's looking a bit tidier! Love the scenery, too. It's almost as good as having mountains for scenery. :) Wait, you do have mountains in the distance too...
ReplyDeleteA...bit? A lot!
DeleteI don't think we can see mountains from the house or even from the hills behind the house, but we can see the Kaikouras from the railway bridge just up the hill. I never really looked for mountains there, though, so I couldn't really tell you if we can see any or not!
Wow!! What beautiful scenery! Maybe someday we can come visit you in your new house :) :) Post pictures of the inside of the house, too! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it is lovely. And I do hope you can come visit us, too. That would be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'll try to remember to get some inside pictures--after the main mess is cleaned up. :)
Oh, such a gorgeous place! A feast for the eyes. :)
