I've got an AMAZING Mum!

Here's a glimpse of this morning, a regular home school morning:

(James) “One hundred-one, Mum!”

(Elijah, announcing room temperature)  “Twenty-two point seven!”

(Mum, talking to Seth) “See, if nine is a factor, then three has to be, too! Now figure out that one. What is the digit sum? Alright, what is the digit sum of twelve? Joe, don't dump them.”

(James) “Mum, ------'s not letting my hand...”

(Mum, correcting his math) “Uh, James, that isn't one hundred sixteen cents.”

(Mum) “He doesn't want a point, does he?”

(James) “Where's the whale watch stories?”

(Mum) “In the computer. Actually, they're in the book that Grandma brought.”

(Joe cries)

(Mum, looking at ------)  “What did you do?”

(------) “I was just playing!”

(Mum) “WHAT did you do?”

(------) “Well, ah...”

(James, ready for his speed-drill) “EVERYONE BE QUIET!” (with a shout)

(Simon, discussing speed-drills with James) “Five-fifteen. I got ten more than you exactly. Ready, setty, go!”

WHEW! I tell you, my mum's amazing! She has patience! If she's able to live through all that without going blind, deaf, dumb, and not even blowing her top off...and this happens just about every day...I think I have some learning to do. A lot actually! Oh, God, help me! (And thank you Mummy, for being such a great example!!!

  1. Sounds familiar! Your mom had some practice when she helped at school before she was married. I remember her helping me with math during a recess time with quite a bit of chaos around her. :)

  2. Mom's are amazing! and it sounds like you have a great one! Thanks for the smile - it reminded me a lot of the times when I was still at home. :)
