(Yes, my pencil just broke). The first day of school went pretty smooth, I didn't do math (yay!), because the books haven't come in yet. I didn't do any writing, I didn't do any reading, I really didn't do anything. So what did I do all day? Let me explain...
Since I am using Far Above Rubies (or FAR) for my high school course this year, and since I hadn't made my way through all of Unit 1, I had to still figure out yet this morning what I'm going to do as far as school for this first term! I went through and underlined all the ones I thought looked interesting. Then I waited until afternoon, when Mom could help me with step #2: count up points and go over with her. She okay-ed everything, and added a couple things (that I purposefully skipped), and we counted up the points. It came to an astounding 405--4 credits, plus one credit we didn't count that I'm working on--it's reading through the Bible in a year. So that's 5 credits total. And we were figuring 1 per unit! I don't think we'll have a problem getting enough credits. I mean, seriously! That's a lot I could do!
So, we're aiming for 20-50 points a week. That should be enough. I'm planning to read through Josephus this year, 4-5 pages per day don't sound too bad.
What I've done as far as school today:
Life Skills:
- Made mayonnaise (recipe below)
- Made tartar sauce (recipe below)
- Read 2 Corinthians 11, Matthew 15, Leviticus 1-7 (the last for read-through-the-Bible-in-a-year program).

RECIPES:
Homemade Mayonnaise
2 eggs
1 ½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. mustard
1 tsp. mustard
½ tsp. paprika
2 T. vinegar
2 T. lemon
½ c. oil
Mix above ingredients together (if you don't have lemon juice, you substitute 2 T. vinegar or vise-versa), and slowly pour 1 1/2 c. oil in (to thicken).
Homemade Tartar Sauce
Pickle relish
Mayonnaise
Mix half-and-half of each together, or until it tastes right. Too easy.
